Diablo 3 to be announced at WWI?

Blizzard’s splash page shows a wall of ice with a crack at the center that becomes larger with each passing day. Many Blizzard fans have noticed the 3 symbols scattered across the image, which appears to be runes from Diablo 2.

Oddly enough the Diablo3.com website owned by Blizzard use to redirect traffic to DiabloFans.com but is now offline.

The World Wide Invitational will be held on June 28-29, 2008, which happens to be the anniversary of Diablo 2 June 29, 2000, and D2 Expansion LOD June 29, 2001. And to top things off, the WWI image shows Diablo prominately centered with his hand held high with 3 fingers, (perhaps the 3 fingers thing is a bit of a stretch since he only has 3 fingers in the first place).

I love the Warcraft series as much as the next Blizzard fan, but I’m ready for some change, with Starcraft 2 already on the way, a Diablo 3 announcement at WWI would be icing on the cake.
