Diablo 3 Officially Announced at WWI

It’s been 8 years since Diablo 2 was released, it’s hard to believe Diablo 3 has finally been announced. Looking at Blizzard’s past releases and current project, it was pretty obvious Diablo was overdue for another sequel.
The question on everyone’s mind was what kind of game would Diablo 3 be? Many thought the game would be like World of Warcraft a MMORPG, since MMOs have been all the buzz in the last few years of gaming and Blizzard’s recent job postings for Next Generation MMO developers, despite all this it turns out Diablo 3 will stay true to it’s roots and stick to it’s original formula of randomly generated loot, dungeons and simple hack and slash gameplay.
The graphics are greatly improved overall with fluid animations for player characters and monsters, the death animation for monsters have never been more satisfying, plenty of blood and guts. Most impressive was the interactive environment, at one point the Barbarian performs a seismic slam which destroys the wood supporting a wall sending it crashing down upon the monsters below.

Looks like belts full of potions are out of style, Blizzard has replaced it with a skill bar, making skills more easily accessible without the need to hotkey skills. Monsters now drop health globes so the pacing the game is much faster with less down time.
The two classes shown in the demo was Barbarian and Witch Doctor, all classes will have male and female versions. The Barbarian is all about smashing things, he needs little introduction. The Witch Doctor class on the other hand seems familiar but not quite, he summons pets and cast diseases like a Necromancer, but he also cast fire spells like a Sorceress. His coolest spell by far is the wall of the dead, I know it’s not much different from the wall of fire, but the graphics are just so awesome.
The great thing about the Diablo series is you can go solo or coop to finish the game, where as in MMOs for the tougher boss fights you need parties with specific classes. If Diablo 3 follows the same trend as it’s predecessors it won’t matter what class you are, it’ll be easy to find parties, well maybe not for rogues, joking.
