Tennis Slam was developed by FinBlade, a mobile games developer based in Europe. The game stars tiny bean looking men playing a good old fashion game of Tennis doubles. Game types include, single match, best of 3, best of 5.
The game can be played using either accelerometer or touchscreen, to swing the racquet simply tap on the racquet icon located in the bottom right corner of the screen or by moving the iPhone.
The only thing players really control is the racquet swing, the tennis player movement is all controlled by the game, which is a bit of a disappointment, it would have been nice to allow players to use the accelerometer to control the tennis player’s movement.
Tennis Slam is quite forgiving, since the game is played in doubles, if the player closest to the net misses you still have a second shot at hitting the ball with the tennis player further from the net.
You can also perform super serves which the opponents rarely return, resulting in the Ace award appearing on the screen, players can also achieve a Mega Rally award for returning the ball over 3 times or more.
Even though the game is simple it still provides some challenge for players, such as timing racquet swings. Although there is no sound, I did enjoy the art style of the game, who doesn’t love little bean men? It was also good to see that the developers have a sense of humor, no Tennis game is complete without flashers, no worries he’s got a leaf covering his jewels (see images).
Tennis Slam (App Store) by Finblade is currently available for $4.99.
