Galcon gets a 50% price cut now $4.99

My favorite iPhone RTS game, Galcon by Hassey Enterprises, has dropped in price from $9.99 to $4.99.

Some people may be scratching their heads when I refer to Galcon as a RTS game, the game’s simple graphics are bit misleading, Galcon actually has quite a lot of depth when it comes to strategy.

In the game of Galcon the goal is to eliminate your enemy by sending swarms of ships to his/her planets. The main resource in this game is planets, planets produce the ships that allow you to attack, so the more planets you have the faster your forces grow, eventually outnumbering the enemy.

Each neutral planet has a set number of defenses, if a neutral planet shows 45 that indicates you’ll need to sacrifice 45 of your ships to take that planet over. Expanding to other planets can be costly but will help you gain the advantage later in the game. 

Choosing which neutral planet to take over is critical to your success, you’ll always want to target the planets closest to you with the least amount of defenses.

If you watch your enemy closely and see him taking over a neutral planet with a large number of defenses, this would be your opportunity take him out, since you’ll outnumber him temporarily until the second planet’s production kicks in and then he’ll eventually outnumber you if you wait too long to attack.

Players also need to take into account that large planets produce ships faster than small planets.

The point is, Galcon is a great RTS game that has a lot of depth, even though the graphics could lead one to believe otherwise.

Galcon can be played over Internet WiFi, 3G and EDGE, with up to 4 players per game, this is a big part of why I purchased this game.
