New racer available for the iPhone, Raging Thunder

Sep 22nd 2008

Raging Thunder (App Store) was developed by Polarbit, this isn’t their first racing game, they were the same developers behind Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart. Instead of fuzzy creatures driving cute little karts, Polarbit opted for a more serious tone, featuring extreme muscle cars with realistic landscapes. According to the developer Raging Thunder is intended to be an arcade style racer, not a racing simulator.

Features

  • WiFi multiplayer
  • State-of-the art 3D graphics
  • Boost, draft and tackling physics
  • Customizable controls

I did some reading and learned that the WiFi multiplayer is referring to multiplayer over the same WiFi router. So far none of the racers offer multiplayer over Internet WiFi, 3G and EDGE.

The game does look promising though, I’ll run a few tracks and let you guys know how the game plays when I get a chance to post the review.

There is quite a bit of competition when it comes to racing games on the iPhone, when looking at Raging Thunder, Asphalt 4: Elite Racing and GTS World Racing come to mind, it’ll be interesting to see how Raging Thunder stacks up against those two racers.

Raging Thunder is currently priced at $7.99.
