Wipeout fans rejoice ‘Low Grav Racer’ has landed on the iPhone

Cobra Mobile has just released Low Grav Racer ($5.99) a futuristic racer for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Like other racers, Low Grav Racer utilizes tilt controls for steering and touchscreen for power-ups and brakes. It seems ideal to have automatic acceleration, rather than adding a third virtual button to the screen, since the left thumb is already dedicated to braking and the right to power-ups.
The game offers 12 tracks to choose from, set on various planets. The environments are nicely animated giving the game a more immersive feel, compared to the other racers which only have static environments for the most part.
You can either play in Single or Competition mode. Single play allows you to race on any tracks you’ve already unlocked. To unlock more tracks, you’ll need to finish in 3rd place or higher in Competition mode.
As mentioned before any slight lag can really put a damper on your racing experience. From my initial impressions, the game has run smoothly without a hitch.
Power-Ups
- Speed Boost – gives your ship a temporary speed blast.
- Omega Mines – collect and drop them on the track.
- Alpha Missiles – use to blast the vehicles ahead of you.
- Trident Missiles – use to blast the vehicles ahead of you. Wider dispersal than Alpha Missiles.
- Shield- temporarily protects you from all harm.
