Gameloft Releases ‘Hero of Sparta’ for the iPhone

After all those teaser trailers Gameloft has finally released, Hero of Sparta ($9.99), for the iPhone and iPod touch.
In a lot of ways, Hero of Sparta, is what Kroll should have been. Much like Kroll, the game sports great graphics, but that’s about as far as the similarities go, Hero of Sparta actually offers some depth to its gameplay, which was a major thorn in Kroll’s side.
You can perform combos by tapping or holding down the attack button, once you’ve landed 10 strikes, your damage is greatly increased. You’ll also be able to block attacks, by holding your finger on the shield icon, or evade attacks by rolling away, just tap and hold on the shield icon and move the virtual D-Pad in the direction you wish to roll.
For key enemies, once you’ve wounded them a blue orb will appear on the screen allowing you to perform a focus kill, a series of orbs will appear on the screen that you will need to tap to complete the focus kill, resulting in a brutal series of blows. You’ll gain more orbs from focus kills to replenish your health and energy.
When the situation looks bad, you can always fall back on your power move, Ascension, each weapon type has its own unique Ascension. Ginormous boomerang axe anyone?
