‘Ironfist Boxing’ coming soon to the App Store

ironfist-boxing-tiThere are already a few boxing games available in the App Store, but none that look as good as Ironfist Boxing.

Rather than fighting in only the traditional sense of boxing, the game offers 3 different styles, Classic Boxing, Muey Thai and Kick Boxing. Players will be able to choose from 16 fighters, with varying attritubes as follows, speed, stamina, heart and power.

Even though boxing games haven’t been as popular as racers in the App Store, they do have the potential to match racers in terms of intuitive controls. Not many details were given about how the controls will work in Ironfist Boxing, but lets brainstorm a bit about how the controls could work.

We’ll do a run down of all the typical boxer moves and how we could accomplish them with the iPhone’s controls.

To throw a jab, just tap on the screen, either on the head or midsection of the opponent. To throw a right hook, you could do a finger swipe across the touchscreen to the left, and to the right for a left hook punch. The game could also take into account if the swipe was across the head or midsection, and send the hook punch to the correct location.

For blocking, you could use multi-touch gestures such as pinching motions, which will bring the fighters arms together to block a high or low attack, depending on where you performed the pinch motion on your avatar, head or midsection.

For dodging punches, the iPhone’s accelerometer will come in handy, just tilt your iPhone to the left or right, to dodge.

From the example controls I gave above, there is no reason why a boxing game can’t be as intuitive to control as racers currently are on the iPhone.
