Put on your gloves ‘Iron Fist Boxing’ has entered the App Store

Iron Fist Boxing ($2.99) has landed in the App Store, available on both iPhone and iPod touch.

The first thing you’ll notice about Iron Fist Boxing is the sweet graphics and great animation, and after playing it a few rounds, I can definitely confirm the graphics and animation are just as good as the gameplay trailer had shown.

The big question mark in my mind of course was all about controls. Iron Fist Boxing does a good job of taking advantage of the iPhone’s unique control scheme. The controls consist of mainly touchscreen taps and accelerometer tilting and shaking.

On the sides of the screen you’ll see red glowing bumps, either a pair will be located on the upper half of the screen or lower. When they appear on the upper half, this means the opponent’s head is not guarded and can be attacked, and same goes for body shots if the pair of bumps appear on the lower half of the screen.

To perform different attacks, you can tilt your iPhone to either side and then tap on the screen to perform a move such as a hook punch for example.

I also like how the accelerometer is used in Iron Fist Boxing when you get knocked down, you shake your iPhone to get your fighter back up.

I haven’t played enough to give a full review on the game, but from what I’ve played so far, the game is quite good.

Although it would have been nice if there was some sort of training mode or even text based instructions about game controls, rather than leaving it up to the player to figure it out on their own.
