Awesome Space Shooter ‘Blue Attack!’ Available in App Store

Blue Attack! by John Kooistra, is a space shooter with a surprising amount of depth, now available for both iPhone and iPod touch.

You command a squadron of fighters on the Blue side battling against Red forces. The enemies contain cores, which can be attacked once the outer defense is broken, once a core is destroyed the defenses the enemy once had go as well.

The game gives you two options for controls, tilt and touchscreen. It can be tricky to find the dead zone to stop your ship from moving, but that minor issue can easily be resolved by doing some tilt control calibration found in the menu options. For touchscreen controls, just slide your finger in the direction you want to move and the ships will follow.

You start off with one ship, you can signal for more wingmen from your carrier by tapping on the wingmen icon on the right side. Calling in additional Blue forces is a great way to boost your attack damage, but keep in mind, each wingman you call into battle will have less hit points than the previous wingman. Damaged wingman can be sent back to the carrier for repairs.

Another neat feature of Blue Attack! is squadron formations. In order to succeed in Blue Attack! you’ll want to adjust your formations for each given situation. Out in open areas you can get away with wide formations such as a “V” formation, but when you are traveling between enemy defenses trying to reach the core you’ll want to go with a snake formation to better navigate the gauntlet.

After completing a mission you’ll have the option to purchase upgrades, such as bombs, speed boost, damage boost and so on. There is two mission modes, normal and infinite, so even if you do complete all the missions, you’ll always have infinite mode to keep you busy.

Blue Attack! (AppStore) is a great deal, considering it only cost $1.99, don’t miss out on this great space shooter!
