id Software releases ‘Wolfenstein 3D Classic’ on the iPhone

The classic shooter by id Software, Wolfenstein 3D ($4.99), is now available for iPhone and iPod touch.
The game plays just like the original, shoot any one you see, look for items to replenish your health and grab the biggest gun you can find, doesn’t get any simpler than that.
The lower left hand corner controls are for moving/turning, and the fire button is on the bottom right. This control scheme is pretty easy to use, but you won’t be able to strafe to dodge enemies easily or to line up shots.
That’s where the second control scheme comes in handy. The bottom left controls replace the turn with strafe, so you can easily move side to side. The turn bottom is located in the bottom right in this setup, and the fire button is top right. This control scheme takes a little more getting use to, but will give you better control of your character.
The game includes all 60 original levels and weapons, so you’ll get plenty of action from this title. Also be sure to walk into any suspicious looking walls, you never know what you might find.

This is a treat. Exactly like I remember playing the original: simple, quick, violent.
I thought I’d just do the free LITE version, but at the end of the third map when it prompted me to buy the full version I thought “hell yes” and did it right away.
The only problem I have is that my friggin’ hands are killing me! Maybe I’m too old for this stuff, but seriously aint us old guys the only ones who remember this game so fondly?
