SEGA’s ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ dashes into the App Store

After SEGA’s successful App Store debut with Super Monkey Ball, pulling in a cool 2 million in its first month of sales, we thought we’d see a lot more of SEGA. Instead SEGA dropped off the radar for nearly a year, thankfully SEGA has come back to the App Store with their latest release, Sonic the Hedgehog ($5.99).

Even though the game is a straight port using the traditional D-Pad, it didn’t turn out so bad, due to the simplistic gameplay of Sonic. Where you can only move left or right and jump, so the controls are adequate for the task.

Features

  • Blast through Seven Zones including classics as Green Hill Zone and Labyrinth Zone, as well as the Special Stages in an attempt to collect the Chaos Emeralds!
  • Classic 2-D Sonic experience on the go for the first time on the iPhone and iTouch!
  • Pick-up-and-play accessibility: Play in Full Screen or classic “Arcade” look and play with just the touch of a button.
