Hands-on Video: Doom Resurrection on the iPhone
When I first received word that Doom Resurrection (App Store) would be an on-rails shooter I had my doubts about the game. Those doubts were quickly erased once I had some hands-on time. I had such a blast playing the game, there are so many challenging aspects to it such as switching to the appropriate gun mid fight, timing reloads, dodging fireballs and so on.
I stated previously that Doom Resurrection should drop the accelerometer based aiming in favor of touchscreen controls similar to Metal Gear Solid Touch, but now that I’ve played the game, I’ve changed my mind. The accelerometer turned out to be quite accurate for aiming, and the amount of tilting required to guide your crosshair onto targets is minimal, as you’ll see in the video.
