A Glimpse of The Force Unleashed’s Ultimate Sith Edition
For those who are fans of The Force Unleashed, expect to be entertained by the recently announced almost-sequel Ultimate Sith Edition. The trailer gives us a very brief glimpse of the new content included with the Mac and PC versions of the game, and leaves us with a simple question: What if the Dark Side won?
Good question, LucasArts.
The premise is simple: you, once again, take up the mantle of Darth Vader’s super secret (not really) apprentice, Galen Marek, do all of the missions that were part of the original The Force Unleashed release… plus three missions worth of new content. From what little was revealed in the trailer, we can expect cameo appearances from Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, what looks like Jabba the Hutt’s Rancor, old gray Obi-wan Kenobi, and hoards of Rebel Alliance scum. Because, as we all know, playing a Force-using character is never fun without destroying wave after wave of nameless people waving blasters and rude words disparaging your parental heritage.
Presumably, these levels follow the “what-if” path, where instead of following the Light Side and sacrificing himself to save the Rebel Alliance, Darth Vader’s not-so-secret apprentice turns on his former master, kills him, and then joins the Emperor. This ushers in a possible new storyline known as “Star Wars Infinities,” which takes the original Star Wars Saga and explores the aforementioned question regarding the Dark Side.
An interesting prospect.
The mission taking place on Tatooine will be made available as DLC to PS3 and 360 owners of the original The Force Unleashed. However, the Hoth mission is exclusive to the Ultimate Sith Edition.
Keep an eye out. The Ultimate Sith Edition is scheduled to be released this fall.
