Care for some Multiplayer Tetris? Take Mino for a Spin
Multiplayer has always been a great way to add replay value to any game, which is exactly what California based iPhone developer Xio Interactive has done with the classic game of Tetris.
In Mino you’ll be able to play with up to four other players in real time. And for you competitive types you’ll have access to global scoreboards to track your progress and see where you stand among the best in the world.
Xio Interactive has also included a neat in-game chat feature for players to socialize. So instead of twiddling your thumbs waiting for enough players to join before starting the game, now you can talk smack, I mean, ask everyone how they’re doing and wish them well.
There are two game modes included in Mino, standard being your classic Tetris gameplay, and Glacier for more challenging gameplay. In Glacier mode periodically rows of blocks are added to the base of your stack, these are called garbage lines for good reason, they’re riddled with gaps, so clearing them will be no easy task. In multiplayer mode the faster a player clears lines the more garbage lines their opponents will receive.
Mino is a great addition to the App Store and I hope its stay isn’t short lived like previous Tetris style games, such as Tris, which was at the time the number one game in the App Store before being removed at the request of the Tetris Company.
Mino (iTunes Link) is currently priced at $0.99 and there is also Mino Lite (iTunes Link) available as well.
