underground-4

With so many side-scrollers in the App Store, it’s important to create a unique look to stand out from the pack, and that’s exactly what Underground has done with its graphics. The graffiti art for obstacles blends into the scene a little too well for my taste. I kept forgetting the graffiti art were obstacles and would crash into them at the start of each stage.

The music in Underground was quite a treat, well that’s if you’re a fan of hip hop music that is. The musical style compliments the graffiti art in the game nicely. The music plays at a moderate tempo, and is not affected by gameplay.

I enjoyed the unique graphics and music of Underground, it was a nice change from your typical side-scrolling space shooter. But of course no matter how nice a game looks, graphics can never be a substitute for good gameplay. The game overall felt a bit short, especially when considering the price tag. The boss fights were uneventful, it was more like the same enemies but with more health. Underground is a decent shooter for your iPhone and iPod touch, given the current pricing and amount of content, I’d say pass on this one.
