Mac port of Bioshock Release Set for October 7th

Feral Interactive’s announcement that Bioshock for Mac OS X would be released on October 7th was a bitter sweet moment. It’s been a long time coming, a full two years has passed since Bioshock’s original release on PC/Consoles. It’s a shame that Mac gamers had to wait so long for such a great game like Bioshock. Adding insult to injury, Bioshock 2′s release is only a few months from now, which takes some of the excitement out of the Bioshock Mac release.

But for those Mac gamers that haven’t played Bioshock, you’re in for a real treat. Bioshock takes place in the underwater city of Rapture, a utopia gone horribly wrong. The city once prided itself for their technological advancements, namely plasmids, which give people super human powers such as hurling fire balls or electrical bolts from their hands.

Bioshock is a first person shooter with some role-play elements. As the game progresses your character will add a variety of plasmids to his arsenal, giving you new ways to dispose of your enemies. But in order to gain these new plasmids your character will need to gather the most precious material in the city of Rapture, Adam.

Although scarce, Adam can be found throughout levels, but the biggest supply of Adam comes from little sisters. This creates a morale dilemma for the player, kill little sisters and become more powerful, or let them live and remain relatively weak.

Bioshock will go on sale for $50 on October 7th, you can also pre-order Bioshock for Mac at Feral Interactive.
