EA to Release Rock Band for iPhone

EA’s Rock Band for iPhone is scheduled to be released later this month. Rock Band will initially include 20 tracks with many more to come via in-game downloadable content (DLC).

The pricing of tracks is expected to fall in line with recently released rhythm based game, Tap Tap Revenge 3, which also offers DLC. Tracks sold in Tap Tap Revenge 3 come in bundles, the price of an individual track is about 50 cents.

Rock Band differs from other rhythm based games with its multiplayer feature, playable over WiFi and Bluetooth, definitely a key feature considering the importance of teamplay in Rock Band. There will be various playable instruments included in Rock Band, but one notable instrument missing from the game is the microphone.

It’s understable why EA would exclude this feature, since the 1st and 2nd generation iPod touches were not bundled with earphones with built in microphone. Even so, they should at least make the microphone instrument optional.
