EA Releases NBA Live for iPhone

EA has added another notable title to their sports lineup, NBA Live [$9.99 - iTunes link], now available for both the iPhone and iPod touch.

NBA Live includes all 30 NBA teams with current team rosters, you’ll also be able to unlock NBA legends as you progress through the game. Besides having all the teams and players, for added authenticity EA included in-game commentary from Marv Albert, commonly referred to as “the voice of basketball.”

NBA Live features three game modes:

  • Exhibition
  • Season
  • Playoffs

The controls consist of a virtual analog stick located at the lower left corner and a pair of virtual buttons at the lower right. The virtual analog stick works in a similar manner to ngmoco’s Dropship. The virtual analog stick will appear with any touchscreen taps on the left half of the screen.

Although there are only two virtual buttons, they serve many functions.  For example if you’re playing offense, the top button when tapped will make a shot or if held the player will dunk. Swiping your finger away from the button will make your player perform a trick dunk. So as you can see, a single virtual button can perform many different actions. I’m really glad they went this route instead of cluttering the screen with buttons.
