I know I’ve been reporting lots on iPhone games and all that jazz, but Mac gamers need some love too. Good news Mac gamers, Razer’s wireless gaming mouse, Mamba, is now available in Apple’s online store. And now for the bad news, I have no idea if this is the “Mac Edition”. So what if it’s the Mac Edition or not, who cares. I care. For one the Razer utility software to tweak the mouse settings is compatible with Mac OS X and two I really like the Razer utility software… So yea, point made!

Of course I have no direct line to Razer’s press team being the lowly blogger that I am, so I did the next best thing, I searched their website for any contact info, which completely eluded me, or maybe I’m just blind. If any Mac gamers already have this mouse, please leave a comment and let us know if the Razer utility software for the Mamba is compatible with Mac OS X.

I know wireless mice are nothing new, but when it comes to Razer it’s different. I’ve avoided using wireless mice all these years for one simple reason, they lag! When you’re playing a game, especially a first-person shooter, any amount of lag could mean the difference between life and death. Razer is promising a 1ms response rate with the wireless Mamba mouse, which I find extremely hard to believe, but I’m trying my best to keep an open mind. It’s just that I’ve had soooo many bad experiences with wireless mice in the past (for gaming). If this mouse works as advertised, I could finally leave behind my wired gaming mouse.

Razer posted a detailed unboxing video of the Mamba wireless gaming mouse. I have to admit, the packaging for the mouse is pretty elaborate, I mean it better be considering with its price tag of 130 dollars.

Update: Razer contacted us (lowly blogger status upgraded to average blogger, oh yea!) in regards to our questions about the compatibility of the Mamba wireless gaming mouse. Turns out they do have Mac drivers for the mouse already that allow acceleration to be adjusted. The Razer representative also informed me that the current drivers can only lower mouse acceleration, not completely remove it. But she also stated that Razer is working on a driver update that will allow players to remove mouse acceleration completely, definitely great news for Mac gamers.
