Quake Live adds support for Mac OS X!
Months us Mac gamers have waited patiently for Quake Live to support our beloved operating system, finally the wait is over. At the Quakecon 2009 press conference Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software, announced that Quake Live support for Mac OS X will arrive on August 18th.
Quake Live for Mac Status Update: “close but not quite ready”
Back in May, I was happy to hear that Quake Live on Mac had become id Software’s “top priority“, I figured it wouldn’t be much longer until us Mac gamers would have the chance to score some frags, but nearly three months have passed since then and no Quake Live for Mac yet. Thankfully Marty Stratton, id Software’s Executive Producer, has posted an update on the Quake Live forums to let us know the current status of Quake Live on Mac.
Quake Live Mac OS X becomes Top Priority
After many months of no updates regarding the Mac OS X version of Quake Live, we’ve finally got word that testing of the Mac OS X version is planned for this month and will be released once the game is fit for release. These have proved more difficult than expected, but we’re getting close.

Quakecon is a annual event held by id Software, where fans of the game developer can meet up and enjoy the festivities, such as the bawls drinking contest, tournaments and keynotes showcasing upcoming games.
